Napier spent seven years at Clemson in the 2000s before joining the Crimson Tide’s staff as an offensive analyst prior to Alabama’s 2011 national championship season. Napier returned to Alabama in 2013 after serving as the assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach at Colorado State in 2012 for former Tide offensive coordinator Jim McElwain.

The 37-year old Napier had been Alabama’s wide receivers coach since 2013, helping to develop players such as All-American Amari Cooper and All-SEC selections Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart.

Napier was previously the quarterbacks coach at Colorado State in 2012, an offensive analyst for the Tide in 2011 and the offensive coordinator at Clemson in 2009 and 2010.

Napier is the third assistant gone from last year’s staff and the second to leave Alabama post-national championship game.
