How much memory did Apple’s first generation iPod have when it was released?
5 GB
It was billed as a device that would let you carry 1,000 songs in your pocket, and it forever changed the way we listen to music. Apple’s first iPod had a 5 GB hard drive, which was an impressive amount to carry in 2001.
Of course, the first iPod was compatible with only Mac computers, which limited its popularity. It wasn’t until the device’s second generation added Windows support that demand skyrocketed.
