who is jeanie buss:Jeanie Buss is a woman who has been successful in the male dominated world of sports. As the daughter of true rags to riches multi-millionaire, she lived a comfortable life in Hollywood, California. Her father was a major inspiration to her throughout her life. He provided her with amazing opportunities that most people only dream about.
Sports has been apart of Jeanie’s life for many years. Being that her family are huge USC (University of Southern California) fans, Jeanie spent many days as a child at numerous USC sporting events. Whether it was football or track, her father would either take the family or have them watch it on TV. When her father purchased the Lakers, Kings, and the Forum in the late 70’s, the Buss sports empire was born.
In 1981, just after Jeanie’s first year of college at USC, her father offered her a job as General Manager of the Forum. The only condition was she has to continue with her schooling, which was important to her father. In June of 1985 Jeanie graduated with a degree in business administration and a ton of job experience.
Now a fulltime employee at the Form, Jeanie took an additional title of Director of Forum Sports and Entertainment. With the request of her father, Jeanie started an indoor roller hockey team, the Los Angeles Thunder Blades, in efforts to have the Forum booked for addition events. In the later 1999’s when the Lakers moved to the Staples Center, Jeanie’s title changed to current title of Executive Vice President of Business Operations.
After years spent working with a major sports team, Jeanie is looking to do her same job but on a smaller scale. She has developed the desire to work with young athletes but to continue working on the business side of things. The desire to work with young athletes was sparked by years of working with the Camp Lakers. A summer camp the Laker organization puts on for inspired young athletes.
Jeanie Marie Buss is part-owner and president of the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. Buss is the daughter of Jerry Buss, a real estate investor who later owned the Lakers and other sports businesses.

The long, slow breakup of Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss
Despite so many tangled webs, Phil Jackson and Jeanie Buss made it work for 17 years. After growing apart along opposite coasts, the impossible relationship reached its end.
“With mutual love and respect, we have decided to end our engagement,” the statement began. “With the nature of our professional obligations and the geographic distance between us, sustaining the relationship has been difficult. We have shared many wonderful moments through the years, and we expect to remain supportive of each other.”
Buss later tweeted from her verified account, referencing Jackson, “Nothing but love and respect for this man.”
In a follow-up tweet, Buss wrote, “The love of my life is the Los Angeles Lakers. I love Phil & will always. It’s not fair to him or Lakers to not have my undivided attention.”
