3:00 EST kick off

The Puppy Bowl is an annual television program on Animal Planet that mimics an American football bowl game similar to the Super Bowl, using puppies. Shown each year on Super Bowl Sunday, the show consists of footage of a batch of puppies at play inside a model stadium, with commentary on their actions. The first Puppy Bowl was shown on February 6, 2005, opposite Super Bowl XXXIX. The puppies featured in the Puppy Bowl are from shelters.

While the dogs take their half time break, there will be a special performance by the feline musical group Chicago Rock Cats with Kitty Gaga singing “Puparazzi”. On the sidelines cheering on the players will be a screech owl, a chinchilla, guinea pigs and rabbits.

The crazy fun continues for two hours, and then will replay on Animal Planet for the rest of the day. Over 9 million people watched the special broadcast last year.

The “Pup Close and Personal” segments will introduce viewers to the back story of each puppy. You can check out the starting line up and learn about each dog here.

Who will win the Bissell MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) by scoring the most touchdowns? Tune in today to find out.
