Church of Scientology
The Church of Scientology promotes Scientology, a body of beliefs and related practices created by Hubbard, starting in 1952 as a successor to his earlier self-help system, Dianetics. Scientology teaches that people are immortal spiritual beings who have forgotten their true nature.
L. Ron Hubbard was an author and the founder of the Church of Scientology. In 2014, Hubbard was cited by the Smithsonian magazine as one of the 100 most significant Americans of all time, as one of the eleven religious figures on that list.
After establishing a career as a writer, he developed a system called Dianetics. He subsequently developed his ideas into a set of doctrines and practices as part of a new religious movement that he called Scientology.
