Who catered the wedding reception of President Woodrow Wilson in 1915?
The man who graces cans of beefaroni, Hector Boiardi, was not only a real person, but he was a culinary talent and founder of Chef Boyardee Foods. While working in West Virginia, Boiardi directed the catering for President Woodrow Wilson’s second marriage, to Edith Galt, in 1915.
Mr. Boiardi later moved to Cleveland, where he opened a restaurant. The idea for Chef Boyardee came about when his restaurant customers began asking him to sell them his spaghetti sauce. He named his product “Boyardee” to help Americans pronounce his name correctly.
