At the ripe old age of 26 years old, Valentina Tereshkova shot up out of the earth’s atmosphere and into space. The year was 1963. To give you a little taste of how extraordinary that was, women weren’t even allowed​ to run the Boston Marathon until 1972. You go, girl!
