What was the name of the car that featured in the TV show, “The Dukes of Hazzard”?
The General Lee
It’s probably old hat to say so, but this car was basically a star of the show! No, really: During the show’s heyday, thousands of fans wrote in letters asking about it. In case you’re wondering, the General was a 1969 Dodge Charger and was famous as the main ride of Bo and Luke Duke. If you’ve ever tried to slide across the hood of your car or narrate your adventures in a Southern drawl, you owe a debt to this show. Source: Mental Floss
Cousins Luke and Bo Duke, along with their family, are evicted from their ancestral farm by a corrupt county commissioner. Intrigued, they set out to find the reason behind the eviction. Cousins Bo (Seann William Scott), Luke (Johnny Knoxville), and Daisy Duke (Jessica Simpson) run a moonshine business for their Uncle Jesse (Willie Nelson) in the fictional Hazzard County, Georgia. The cousins’ primary mode of transportation is an orange 1969 Dodge Charger that the boys affectionately refer to as the “General Lee”. Along the way, the family is tormented by corrupt Hazzard County Commissioner Jefferson Davis Hogg, widely known as “Boss Hogg” (Burt Reynolds), and his willing but dimwitted henchman, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane (M. C. Gainey).
