What group was Marvin Gaye a part of before singing with Motown?
The Moonglows
Soul singer-songwriter Marvin Gaye may be known best for signing with Motown, but he got his start singing in his father’s church and then joined R&B group The Moonglows. It didn’t take long for Gaye to take on individual endeavors, filling in as a session drummer for Stevie Wonder, The Supremes, The Marvelettes and Martha and the Vandellas. Perhaps his greatest solo accomplishment, however, was his love anthem “Let’s Get It On,” which became a No. 1 Billboard hit soon after it’s release. Source: Biography.com
