What color is snow?
Individual snowflakes are colorless and translucent. However, individual snowflakes can pick up dust or algae. These particles can give snow a variety of colors, including orange, green, yellow and even purple. Siberia reported an orange snowfall in 2007 and pink snow, also called watermelon snow, fell on Krasnodar, Russia in 2010. This watermelon snow is fairly common in higher mountain elevations, and it includes a sweet smell and taste. Source: Almanac.com
